Nellie Malet

Nellie Malet has volunteered at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation and Vietnam Era Educational Center since its first year. Nellie started working the front desk in 2009. She meets and greets people at the gift shop.

Her husband, Ronald Malet, was a Vietnam Veteran who also helped wherever needed. He served in the Army, 4th Infantry Division, and was in Vietnam in 1966-67. Unfortunately, Ron passed away in 2004. At first, Nellie brought in a group of women from the Lady Dem’s Organization in Sayreville, New Jersey to help the Foundation. Then Nellie also helped with two great ladies who both have passed away.

Nellie has two wonderful sons, Ronald & Robert, who are both married. She is also very involved in her community. Nellie is an associate member of VVA Chapter 233 for twenty-three years, a member of the “Mission of Honor for the Cremains of American Veterans” and the “Citizen’s Campaign” Center for Civic Responsibility. She feels so proud to be able to help bring Veterans to their final resting place.

Nellie loves being at the Memorial and Educational Center. She states, “you always learn something new.”
