Lamar Mackson

Lamar Mackson served in the Marines from August 1964 to August 1968. He was held on administrative hold with a top secret clearance at Camp Lejeune for the first three years of his enlistment. His MOS was 0311-0331.

His first time in combat was in the Dominican Republic. It was part of Mediterranean and Caribbean training as well Norwegian cold weather training. He attended the National Rifle championships in Camp Perry, Ohio. Lamar also saw duty in Cuba.

Lamar was sent to Vietnam in 1967 where he served with Fox Company, 2nd Bn, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. He was moved to the Philadelphia Naval Hospital after he was wounded. Lamar was discharged in August 1968.
