Biography

George D. Curry was born on October 2, 1945, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Curry. His home of record is Piscataway, NJ. He had two brothers, Thomas and Philip, and a sister, Kathleen. George graduated from Plainfield High School in 1963. George was a quiet, religious youth who had worked as a gardener after graduation from high school. While in service, he asked his family to send him books on the plants and flowers of Vietnam

Inducted into the US Army shortly after high school, Curry was sent to Vietnam after completing basic training at Fort Dix, NJ, and advanced infantry training at Fort Polk, LA. He attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

Curry was killed in action on August 1, 1966, at the age of 20, as the result of shell fragments in combat barely three months after he arrived in Vietnam.
