Biography

William J. Beksi was born on November 25, 1950, to William V. and Helen Lowsky Beksi. His home of record is Linden, NJ.

Beksi served in the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of Lance Corporal (LCPL).

On December 5, 1969, Beksi's squad was on patrol and got turned around and ended up in an area that had been scheduled for an artillery strike by American forces in Quang Nam Province. In the confusion, Beksi and another Marine were killed. A letter from his Commanding Officer to his parents stated that Beksi was mortally wounded at Hill 88, near the vicinity of Los Banos firebase in Thu Thien Province. He died while being evacuated to Danang. This information is contradictory to the information that was previously provided by the US Marine Corps.

Billy had a younger brother who was very close to him and missed him very much. His name was Kenneth (1953 - 1999) and he was married to Patricia. They had three sons, William, Kenneth and Michael and lived in East Brunswick, NJ. A younger sister, Christine B. Osgood, resides in Binghamton, NY, with her husband, Curtis and two sons, Douglas and Joseph.

Sources: Christine Osgood (sister) and NJVVMF.
