Biography


Vincent L. Jacobs was born on November 16, 1946. His home of record is Kinnelon, NJ.

He served in the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of First Lieutenant (1LT). He enlisted in the Marines and qualified for flight school. His status was changed to active reserve because he did not have a degree. He graduated as a fighter pilot and re-enrolled for he re-enrolled for helicopter training. He was MIA for about 11 months.

Jacobs was killed in action on January 7, 1969. He died while performing the duty of a pilot. Jacobs crashed into a mountain during bad weather on a routine flight between Marble Mountain and Chu Lai for mail and passengers. He was located in Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam at the time of his death. The aircraft was found on September 21, 1969 but the conditions were so that investigations did not occur. The following day a search and discovery team recovered the remains of all five men aboard.

Jacobs is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Susan, and one daughter.
