Biography


Joseph P. Mobus was born on March 17, 1948. His home of record is Harrison, NJ. He had one sister and three brothers. Joseph graduated from Harrison High School in 1966, where he enjoyed baseball, football, basketball and bowling.

Joseph worked with his father in a Two Guys warehouse before entering the US Army in September 1967. Joseph served with the 1st Cavalry Division and attained the rank of Private (PVT).

Mobus was killed in action on August 19, 1969. He is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.

Mobus was awarded the Bronze Star, the Air Medal, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Sharpshooter's Badge with Automatic Rifle band and bar, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon.

There is a memorial plaque at Harrison League Field dedicating the park to him. He also shares a street named after him and another serviceman killed in Vietnam.
