Biography


Edward Bruce Johnson was born on March 8, 1947, in Elizabeth, NJ to Jane and Joseph Johnson.  He later moved to Union, NJ.  His home of record is Union.  He had one sister and one brother, Linda and Mervin.  He attended Connecticut Farm School and Kawameeh Junior High School.  He attended Union High School where he met and dated his future fiancée, Barbara Battiste.  In high school, Edward was a member of the Boy Scouts.  He enjoyed football, basketball, baseball and bowling.  He also liked outdoor life and liked to go hunting and fishing. He graduated from Union High School in 1965. 

Edward attended classes in housing architecture at Union County Technical Institute.  He was employed by the American Can Company in Hillside, NJ.

Johnson enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1966.  He attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC).   He graduated from boot camp in Parris Island, SC. 

Johnson was killed in action on January 15, 1967.  He is buried at the Hollywood Memorial Cemetery.
