Biography


 Anthony Hein was born on July 26, 1946, to John and Stella Hein, Jr. His home of record is Verona, NJ. He had a brother, John, and two sisters, Margaret and Barbara. He attended Our Lady of the Lake Grammar School in Verona, NJ. He graduated from Verona High School in 1964, and continued his education at Farleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, NJ. He completed three years of evening classes before being drafted. Anthony was interested in stamp and coin collecting.

Anthony worked for General Motors in New York City. He enjoyed having discussions on sports, politics and girls.

Hein served in the US Army and attained the rank of Corporal (CPL). He was assigned to Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment. He arrived in Vietnam in April and was killed in action on August 7, 1968, in Darlac Province.

Hein was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.
