Biography


Richard R. Melady was born on December 20, 1938, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Melady. His home of record is Dumont, NJ. Melady graduated from Dumont High School in 1956.

He served in the US Navy for ten years and attained the rank of Torpedomans Mate First Class (TM1).

Melady was killed in action on January 17, 1969, while attempting to deactivate an enemy mine on the beach just south of Saigon.

He was survived by his wife and two sons, Peter Richard Melady and Richard M. Melady. He is buried at Beverly National Cemetery.
