Biography


Eric C. Magnuson, Jr. was born on June 13, 1945. His home of record is Ramsey, NJ. He graduated from Ramsey High School, where he was known as “Skip.” Magnuson was a star pitcher for three seasons on his high school baseball team. The description under his yearbook picture states, “’Mag’…dislikes people who say ‘gross’…will never forget winning the 1961 State Championship for baseball…red, The Untouchables, Elvis Presley, He’s a Rebel, and reading Playboy rate high…the future holds baseball or the service. ‘A good sport is always liked.’”

Magnuson served in the US Army and attained the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4). He worked as a machinist.

Magnuson was killed in action on December 30, 1966, in South Vietnam, when he stepped on an antipersonnel mine. He had been in country just six months. Eric is buried at Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah, Bergen County, New Jersey.
