Biography


Frank P. Addice was born on September 13, 1948, in Paterson, NJ, to Frank and Dawn Addice.  His home of record is Wanaque, NJ, where he lived for just two years before entering the service.  Frank has one brother, Robert, and four sisters, Patricia, Barbaram Susan and Paula.  He attended Passaic County Technical High School.  He enjoyed all sports and was an accomplished bowler.  He also enjoyed chess and social dancing.

Addice entered the US Navy and served as a corpsman at the Marine Air Base, Squadron 34.  He attained the rank of Hospitalman (HN).

Addice was killed in action in a mid-air crash on April 11, 1968, when two helicopters collided.  He is buried in lot 11, grave 431 in Calvary Cemetery in Paterson, NJ.

He was awarded the Air Medal - First Strike/Flight Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon.

In Wanaque, NJ, at the corner of Chestnut Street and Meadow Brook Avenue, the town named Addice Park in his honor. Addice is also remembered in the book Luminous Base by Bruce Williams-Burden.
