Biography


Patrick Eugene Lawlor was born on March 17, 1949, to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lawlor. His home of record is Oakland, NJ. He had two sisters: Lori and Jean. Patrick also had three brothers: Stephen, Michael and James. Patrick attended Indian Hills High School, where he was an outstanding baseball player. He was the pitcher when the team won its first victory in 1965. Patrick graduated in 1966.

He entered the US Army where he attained the rank of Corporal (CPL). He was sent to Vietnam at the age of 20, as part of A Company, 1st Battalion, 46th Infantry, 198th Light Infantry Brigade (Americal Division).

On May 30, 1970, while on patrol in South Vietnam, Lawlor was killed in action by a land mine.

He was awarded numerous medals and decorations including the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

In his hometown of Oakland, there is a memorial in Veterans’ Park and Lawlor Drive named in his honor.
