Biography


Bobby Moorer was born on October 26, 1941, to Richard and Cora Moorer.  The family lived in Orangeburg, SC, at the time.  The Moorer's had seven children - Bobby, Ruby, Helen, Williemae, Louise, Richard and Mary.  Bobby attended Wilkenson High School in Orangeburg, SC, where he played basketball.  His home of record is Vineland, NJ. 

He married Marie Brown in 1965.  Prior to entering the service, he worked as a stockman at Newberry's and Kimble Glass Company.

Moorer was inducted into the US Army in July 1967.  He attained the rank of Corporal (CPL).

Moorer was killed in action on May 15, 1968, by enemy artillery fire.  He had been in Vietnam five months.
