Biography


James Luttgens was born on May 7, 1949, to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Luttgens.  His home of record is Keyport, NJ.  He had three brothers, Paul, Thomas and Randall.  James was married to Alma Kirkpatrick and they had one son, Robert.

Luttgens served in the US Army and attained the rank of Sergeant (SGT).  He was assigned to Troop C, 2nd Squadron (Airmobile), 17th Cavalry, 101st Airborne.  His tour of duty in Vietnam began on October 16, 1969.

He was killed in action on July 9, 1970, in Binh Thuan, South Vietnam, when he came under attack by small arms and mortar fire.

He is buried at Shoreland Memorial Gardens in Hazlet, NJ.
