Biography


Albert Shiller was born on July 15, 1947.  His home of record is Alpha, NJ.  He attended Phillipsburg High School.  His nickname was "Red".

He served in the US Army and attained the rank of Corporal (CPL).  Shiller served with C Company, 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division.

Shiller was killed in action on April 2, 1968, in Dinh Tuong Province.  He received head wounds from an enemy Chinese claymore mine that was set off at the tree line.  He was rushed to the 24th Medical Evacuation Hospital in Long Binh and was pronounced dead there.

Shiller was interred in the United Presbyterian Cemetery in Alpha, NJ.

He received numerous awards and decorations including the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Military Merit Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Good Conduct Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge.
