Biography


Ferdinand J. Quatrone was born on July 8, 1930, in South Orange, NJ, to Mr. and Mrs. Antonio Quatrone.  His home of record is Orange, NJ.  He had four sisters, Mary, Agnes, Eleanor and Patricia, and three brothers, Anthony, John and William.

He entered the US Army in 1947 and served seven years in Korea during the fighting and subsequent occupation, which followed.  Quatrone was a Green Beret instructor at Ft. Bragg and served five years in Germany.

Quatrone had completed a year's service in Vietnam and, after stateside service, returned to Vietnam in August 1967 on special assignment.  Quatrone was a Master Sergeant (MSGT) with the Green Berets Special Forces.

Quatrone was killed in action on November 1, 1967.  He received a full military burial in Fayetteville, NC, at the Lafayette Military Cemetery.  At the time of his death, his wife, Christine, an eight-year old son, a six-year old daughter, and a two-month old daughter, survived him.
