Biography


Salvatore A. Rowe was born on September 24, 1950.  His home of record is Plainfield, NJ. 

Rowe enlisted in the US Army when he was 15.  It took authorities ten months before they learned his age.  He attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC). 

Rowe arrived in Vietnam in December 1968, after a leave at home and was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division.  He had served three months in Korea before volunteering for Vietnam

On December 13, 1968, Rowe was on reconnaissance patrol in Thua Thien, South Vietnam, when he was killed by the propeller of an air cushion vehicle.

Rowe received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Parachutist Badge, and the Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar.
