47th Black April Day
April 30, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
This April 30th will mark the 47th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon. It is on this day the Republic of Vietnam Descendants will honor our veterans for their bravery and sacrifice during the Vietnam War with a special commemorative event and appreciation luncheon. We hope you can join us.
The anniversary has always been an extremely sad day for Vietnamese families, especially those who were forced to leave behind their beloved homeland to find freedom and democracy in other countries; many did not make it. While trying to escape the suppression and torture imposed by the Communists, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese people died in prison camps, drowned in the ocean, or perished in the jungle. This is the reason this month has come to be known as “Black April.”
It would be a great honor to have you on April 30th to help demonstrate our appreciation to those that came before us and sacrificed so much. It’s also a great way for you to learn more about our mission, culture, and organization.
