Biography


Irving Clarence Pierce, Jr. was born on November 6, 1945.  His home of record is Bridgeton, NJ.

Pierce served in the US Army and attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC).  He served with the C Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry.

Late on the afternoon of February 10, 1968, Irving's unit, Charley Co., made contact with an NVA company north of Kontum City.  Twice they tried to maneuver against the enemy positions but were forced to withdraw due to intense fire.  On the afternoon of February 11, 1968, after another assault on the objective, they were airlifted to Dak To, taking with them three soldiers who had been killed in action.  Pierce was one of the soldiers killed in action on February 11, 1968.
