Biography


Carl Foster was born on March 21, 1947. His home of record is Belmar, NJ. He attended Manasquan High School.

Foster served in the US Army as a rifleman and grenadier with Company B, 2nd Battalion, and 35th Infantry Regiment. Carl graduated from boot camp on March 25, 1966. He attained the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4).

Foster arrived in Vietnam in August 1966. He was killed in action on February 8, 1967 in Pleiku Province, Vietnam. While on a reconnaissance patrol, he slipped into a deep, partially concealed waterhole and drowned in la Drang River.

Foster was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Marksmanship Rifle Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge.

Services for Foster were held at Hunt Funeral Home in Asbury Park, NJ. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle, NJ.
