Biography


Charles E. Johnson was born on April 5, 1947.  His home of record is Newark, NJ.  Charles attended South Side High School in Newark.

Johnson served in the US Marine Corps.  He trained at Camp Lejeune, NC, and Parris Island, SC.   Johnson attained the rank of Lance Corporal (LCPL).  He was assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division.

Johnson was killed in action on July 2, 1967, during Operation Buffalo.  His company was ambushed around Con Thien.
