Biography


George D. Eppinger was born on April 16, 1946.  His home of record is South River, NJ.  He was the fifth son of Arthur and Katherine Eppinger.  He had two sisters, Marie and Dorothy, and four brothers, Arthur, Raymond, Edwin and James.  George was a 1964 graduate of South River High School where his interests included baseball, aeronautics, auto mechanics and hunting.  He also attended the School of Aeronautics in New York and IBM School in Newark, NJ.

George entered the US Army in October 1965.  He served in the 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division.  He attained the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4).

Eppinger was killed in action on November 21, 1966, in South Vietnam.
