Biography


Dyke Augustus Spilman was born on July 15, 1941.  His home of record is Wildwood, NJ.

Dyke entered the US Air Force and was assigned to the 16th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron Tan Son Nhut AB SV where he attained the rank of Major (MAJ). 

Spilman was listed as missing in action on September 27, 1966 when his aircraft disappeared.

Synopsis (from the POW Network) as to the circumstances behind being listed as MIA:
On September 27, 1966, Dyke Spilman was the copilot of an RF-4C aircraft which was on a night photo reconnaissance mission when he was reported missing in action.  The aircraft failed to return to the base and the crewmembers were declared missing at the time of estimated fuel exhaustion.
