Biography


Vincent S. Coles was born on February 27, 1950 to Mr. and Mrs. Samson Coles.  His home of record is Newark, NJ. Coles attended Newark Vocational School.

He served in the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC). He was a member of Platoon 353, PISC and graduated from training at Camp Lejeune and Parris Island in May 1967. He was sent to Vietnam in February 1968. He served with the 3rd Battalion, 27th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.

Coles was killed in action on May 16, 1968 in Quang Nam, South Vietnam.  He is buried at Woodland Cemetery in Newark, NJ.  He was survived by his parents and sister Doris.
