Biography

Jon C. Jacobson was born on October 19, 1947, in Bayonne, NJ.  His home of record is Bayonne, NJ.  Jon graduated from St. Peter's College where he was a member of the Reserve Officers Training Corps, honors program, dean's list, and the student newspaper.

Jacobson entered the US Army in the summer of 1969, where he attained the rank of First Lieutenant (1LT).

According to his nine brothers and sisters, Jon believed in the US military involvement in Vietnam and in his own role as a soldier.  He had written to them with plans to take a pre-law examination in Vietnam as preparation for the career in law he hoped to pursue when he left the service.

He is remembered by his siblings as being keenly interested in politics, deeply religious and a lover of music who often went to concerts and frequently listened to recordings of classical music.

Jacobson was killed in action in Vietnam on October 7, 1970, at the age of 22.  The news of Jacobson's death was brought by an army captain from Fort Monmouth, who, according to members of the family, said that Jacobson died instantly in "some sort of booby trap."
