Biography


Vladamir William Zubar was born on March 13, 1946, to Maria and Semen Zubar.  His home of record is Paterson, NJ. William, as he was known, had one brother, Victor.

William graduated from Paterson Technical and Vocational School in 1965.  While in high school, he was a member of the baseball and football team.  He especially loved auto mechanics and working with cars and enjoyed borscht and garlic.

Zubar entered the US Army in December 1965.  He served with the 1st Platoon, Company B, 2/60 Infantry, 9th Infantry Division where he attained the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4/E4).  His tour in Vietnam began on December 1, 1966.

On May 2, 1967, Zubar was killed in action at the age of 21 in the Long An Province, South Vietnam.  He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
