Professional Development Workshops for Educators
In order to promote our mission to educate the public on the Vietnam era, NJVVMF also conducts professional development workshops for educators. In addition to our Annual Forum the NJVVMF hosts workshops that help all types of educators to teach the Vietnam era including the Vietnam War and the social and cultural movements of this dynamic time.

Feedback from educators who attended our last workshop:
What about the topic of this workshop appealed to you?
I cannot choose only one because each gave me something new to add to my teaching repertoire.
The topic was broad enough to open many avenues of discussion on the Vietnam era.
A good way to learn and think more about Vietnam as well as the 60s, teaching these areas.
I teach contemporary literature/humanities. The whole concept was perfect.
Interesting, relevant to Vietnam Era courses, a great sharing of ideas, activities, and viewpoints.
75% of my course deals with the 1960s, so this was perfect.
Good ideas for the Classrooms I liked all the break off sessions. The speakers made them easy.
Everything…Open Discussion. Enjoyed the puzzle activity and traveling trunk.
Please rate the presenters:
Each presenter engaged all of us. I was pleased with their knowledge and skills.
Presenter and Veteran were both outstanding.
Loved the “puzzle activity”- yes, it would work with HS students. And the “trunk activity”- Wow!
Enjoyed the veterans and the topical themes discussed of relevant 60s issues.
Well prepared.
Each presenter provided a wealth and information.
Each added a new dimension to my knowledge of this time period and the war.
So nice, friendly, & informative. No one was boring.
All very interesting and knowledgeable.
Usefulness of material:
Very useful when discussing the Vietnam Era.
Every piece was applicable to my classes. Usually I do not get as much.
I can use each breakout session in my classes whether they are honors or special ed.
Please rate your experience with the guide during the tour of the Memorial:
I’ve taken the tour 15 or so times in the past; the guides are always excellent.
Explained everything, very knowledgeable, went beyond to answer questions.
It was an honor and pleasure to speak to our Vets and their experiences. Support our troops.
Veteran guide was outstanding.
It was particularly helpful and interesting to have this opportunity and our guide was very interesting.
A real human to human exchange.
Presented more ideas I can exchange with my teachers.
Always a pleasure to accompany a Vietnam Veteran on a “tour” of the Memorial. “Welcome home!”
It was very moving and interesting.
He was funny and smart. He gave a great tour and acknowledged our questions each time.

Good speakers, kept us busy, good info to bring back, got ideas.
Very well done! Please run another workshop again next summer.
Organized and flowed nicely.
I learned new material and made connections to previously understood info.
Extremely informative.
I would really like to bring my students here in the spring.
I truly enjoyed the puzzle piece activity- thanks for sharing ideas for how to integrate into the classroom
How likely are you to use the material/ideas from today’s workshop?:
These activities can be used for every subject, not just Vietnam.
Our HS brings students annually to the VVEC- so any information/materials acquired is valuable.
Will mostly use the puzzle activities as well as the oral history and will seriously consider trying to arrange to get the trunk.
Always use information from these seminars.
The material given is very relevant to how I teach.
Will love to use trunk.
New ideas for content areas in the Vietnam Era class and activity ideas for all classes, many thanks.
Very good- each session covered something different
I will try to organize either a trip or a visit to our school.
I found several topics to share with my history day students.
Puzzle idea was interesting.
I will integrate resources into teaching of 1960s.
Enjoy the wikispace website and also the oral history link.
Will be contacting my principal about borrowing the trunk.
