HOW TO SUBMIT ITEMS FOR THE VIETNAM ERA EDUCATIONAL CENTER

PHOTOGRAPHS

Please make a photocopy of the picture(s) you would like us to consider using.  DO NOT SEND ORIGINALS.  The copy should be the actual size of the photo.  Please do not enlarge the copy.  Please provide the following information (or as much as possible): when the photo was taken, where the photo was taken, who is in the photo and the events surrounding the photo.
For example: "Sgt. John Smith of Bayonne - February 1968.  Picture taken while walking point during Tet Offensive while serving with Mike Co, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.  This was part of Operation Nutcracker in Ashau Valley.  We had 17 KIA, they lost 100 in this operation."

LETTERS
Actual letters should be handwritten, no more than 2 - 4 pages and should include the date the letter was written.  We are looking for letters that clearly describe an event or feeling that individual is experiencing at the time the letter was written.  Letters can be from service men/women to their families or friends, from family or friends to the service men/women in Vietnam, letters written to politicians or other officials, etc.

Please submit a photocopy of the letter(s) you would like us to consider using.  DO NOT SEND ORIGINALS.  Please provide the following information with the letters: who wrote the letter, who the letter was written to, any biographical information on the writer including current day information.  If you have a SMALL personal memento that reinforces meaning of the letter or gives further information on the writer, please describe what you have.  Because these items will be in a small display case, they should be no larger than the following dimensions: 3" wide, 6" long and 3" thick.

FOR ALL ITEMS
1. Please make sure to mark items clearly with your name, address and telephone number.

2. Once we have reviewed all materials, our content committee will make final selections for the exhibit.  We will contact those people whose items have been selected and ask them to submit the original photo, letter, etc.

3. Please keep in mind that we can change items in the exhibit on a regular basis so that we can rotate many people's photos and letters into the exhibit.  We will maintain your information on file so when we make a change in the exhibit, we will have your material at hand.

The following is a list of what the NJVVM Ed Center is looking for presently. This list is updated periodically. Please check back regularly for the most up-to-date information.
