Christopher Cowen was born on July 6, 1947, to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Cowen, Sr.  His home of record is Woodlynne, NJ.  He had two older brothers, Joseph and William.  Chris graduated from Collingswood High School in 1966.

He was drafted into the US Army in November 1966.  Cowen was an expert machine gunner and attained the rank of Sergeant (SGT).

Cowen was killed by crossfire on July 15, 1968, while on patrol.
