Carl R. Steffen was born on January 20, 1947, to Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Steffen.  His home of record is Trenton, NJ.  He had one sister, Barbara, and a brother, Jerry.  Carl attended Grice Junior High School and then went on to attend Hamilton High School.

Steffen enlisted in the US Marine Corps on November 5, 1964, and completed boot training at Parris Island.  He arrived in Vietnam in June 1965.  He attained the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

Steffen was killed in action on December 25, 1965, in Chu Lai Province.

His name appears on the Veterans’ Memorial at Hamilton High School West in Hamilton, NJ, along with the six other graduates from that school that were killed in Vietnam.
